Early Years Learning Framework

Our program at Parkes Early Childhood Centre is based on children’s strengths, knowledge, interests, concepts, and cultural backgrounds. The National Quality Framework stipulates that learning occurs best through play-based experiences.

Your child will develop knowledgeable and confident self- identities through the acknowledgement and understanding that children construct meaning in different ways, built on experiences that:

 

• Encourage children to make choices and decisions

• Develop authentic children’s understanding of themselves

• Promote a sense of community within the early childhood setting

• Promote children’s sense of belonging, connectedness and wellbeing

• Use processes such as exploration, collaboration and problem solving

• Include resources and materials for creating environments which engage children’s sense of curiosity, wonder and investigation

• Provide opportunities for self-expression in an environment that is rich in literacy and numeracy (The Early Year’s Learning Framework, 2009).
