Welcome to the Sunshine Room!
The Sunshine room caters for children 2-3 years old. The room has long day care and occasional care places and operates between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
The program that is provided is based around the Early Years Learning Framework, Being, Belonging and Becoming, that was introduced to provide young children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in learning.
There are 5 learning outcome that are part of the framework and these outcomes are most likely to be achieved when early childhood educators work in partnership with families.
In the Sunshine room the children’s learning initiates from their interests and intentional teaching also plays a role. Children in this age bracket are starting to learn about independence and being able to develop their self help skills.
The room is routine based and this involves children following a flexible routine to meet their needs. The children sit together at morning tea eating fruit from a platter that has been provided by the children’s families. Children also sit together at lunch and afternoon tea times. The children enjoy a range of indoor activities, such as playdough, art and crafts. Children participate in group time experiences, listening to stories, singing, music and movement. Outdoor activities include sandpit play, obstacle courses and a slippery dip.
Children are able to have a sleep/rest after they have had their lunch to be refreshed for the rest of the day.
Children are provided with age appropriate experiences to develop skills that help with life long learning.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Sunshine Room.
